Morning Meditation: music by George Harrison
This ceremony, called 'Greeting of the Deities', takes place at 7.00am in all Krishna temples (ISKCON) around the world. The music was arranged and produced by George Harrison. The Govindam prayers of this video were recorded at the Abbey Road Studios in April 1969. These prayers along with the Hare Krishna Mantra and other songs were recorded in one day, with George arranging the musicians, and playing guitar and harmonium himself. Paul McCartney was in the building at the time and he offered welcome advice as George and Krishna devotees Yamuna, Syamasundara and others were working away.
The album was released in August and within two weeks was no. 1 in the charts.
On the altar shown in this video are Krishna and Radha, the supreme masculine and feminine forms of God, as understood by Vedic texts of ancient India.
